Next time you click the question mark icon in a ZEISS application, think of Zuzanna. She’s a Senior Engineer in Technical Documentation in Słupsk, Poland, and one of the experts behind these manuals. She crafts essential user guides for the software that powers ZEISS industrial devices.

But this wasn't her initial career path – she discovered her perfect fit, once she had become a mother.

The Knack of Writing Manuals

When users of these specialized devices seek guidance, Zuzanna's manuals come to their aid. Through a blend of images and text, she meticulously explains the intricacies of various application functionalities, striving to address every possible user query.
Writing manuals is a demanding task. Zuzannas position is requiring empathy for end-users, a deep understanding of software functions, and careful selection of terminology. Highly educated experts in metrology as well as entry level machine operators need to fully understand individual functions and terms of the control applications. That’s why Zuzanna consistently stays in touch with her colleagues or occasionally ventures onsite to test and discuss the software with engineers from ZEISS Industrial Quality Solutions.

New Focus – Embraced by ZEISS

Before, Zuzanna held a different leadership position. As a graduate biomedical engineer from the University of Science and Technology in Cracow, she started her journey at ZEISS with coordinating a team of engineers in medical technology.
But after she transitioned into motherhood, she felt that the change it brought necessitated adjustments in other aspects of her life, too.
“After returning from maternity leave, I met with my manager, discussing my vision, as well as my needs and goals for the future", she says.

A Perfect Fit

Zuzanna told her aspirations for a shift in her career. And was positively shocked. "The management really backed me up in finding a new position at ZEISS that met my needs as a young mother as well as my passion for constantly familiarizing myself with new topics and study wide."

Zuzanna's new job combines virtually everything she has always enjoyed doing: solving tricky puzzles, learning new languages and immersing herself in the world of science. Equally important, she can count on being home on time every day, without the need for travel or overtime.
"It's not that I'm any less ambitious," she says. "In fact, I found the perfect fit for my professional and private ambitions. I want to be the best mom I can be. That’s my priority. But I also want to learn and grow in my career. I am very grateful that ZEISS is supporting me as a young mother on this path."
