ZEISS expands its SFL binocular family: The new SFL 50 for the highest hunting demands

The SFL 50 combines high-quality optics with a particularly light and compact design.

ZEISS presents the new SFL 50, an extension of the renowned SFL family of binoculars. It combines outstanding optical performance with lightness and is therefore the ideal companion for any hunting situation, whether at long idstances or in twilight. The SFL 50 is being launched with three magnifications: 8x50, 10x50 and, for the first time, a 12x50 model. "With the SFL 50, we have been able to combine the optical performance of 50 mm binoculars in a design that is as compact and lightweight as a classic 42 mm model," says Nur Ölmez, Category Manager at ZEISS.

Bright and Light

Thanks to an innovative optical design with thinner lens elements and optimized lens distances, the ZEISS SFL 50 combines low weight and exceptional optical performance. The lightweight and durable magnesium housing not only contributes to weight reduction, but also ensures high robustness and durability - for comfortable and fatigue-free observations for years to come.

Thanks to the UHD concept with a light transmission of 90% and the particularly large entrance and exit pupil, an exceptionally large amount of light passes through the glass to the viewer. Particularly at twilight, when the human pupil becomes wider, the large exit pupil of the SFL 50 ensures a bright, clear image - and also provides a particularly comfortable viewing experience. The eye quickly finds its way into the image so that even moving subjects can be captured effortlessly.

"It is essential to be able to clearly see fine color nuances and details for accurate and responsible hunting - the SFL 50 makes exactly that possible," says Ölmez. The ZEISS T* multi-coating also maximizes brightness and color accuracy. This is complemented by phase-corrected roof prisms and lenses with high transmission values that ensure maximum clarity. Special extra-low dispersion lenses are used to minimize distracting color fringing. In addition, the combination of Field Flattener Technology and aspherical lenses ensures consistent image sharpness right to the edge of the image. With a wide field of view and a close focusing distance of just 1.8 meters, hunter can experience every detail up close.

Ergonomic and robust

"We have developed the SFL 50 for comfortable and intuitive observation - with a perfectly balanced design and precise focusing," reports Oelmez. The SmartFocus system allows fast and precise focusing with just 1.4 turns from close to infinity, while the ergonomically positioned focus wheel ensures comfortable handling without overstretching the fingers. The optimized weight shift to the eyepiece ensures a comfortable balance and enables long and relaxed observation, even for longer hunting sessions. Even in poor weather conditions, the SFL retains a clear view. Thanks to the LotuTec coating, water will roll off the lenses, while the nitrogen filling prevents them from fogging up even at high temperature differences.

Ölmez summarizes the performance of the new ZEISS binoculars once again: "With the SFL 50, we are setting new standards for hunting optics: premium optical performance with particularly bright images in an exceptionally lightweight and compact design that is comparable to 42mm models - the ideal companion for demanding hunters."
