Jena, Germany | 3 April 2025 | ZEISS Microoptics
ZEISS will be showcasing at the Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) 2025 in Hamburg, the leading global event for the aircraft cabin industry, from April 8–10, 2025. As a Co-Exhibitor at the Aviation Glass & Technology BV booth, ZEISS will present groundbreaking holographic solutions that redefine aircraft interiors. These innovations are powered by ZEISS Multifunctional Smart Glass technology, which has already been carried on ESA and NASA space missions for many years.
At Hall B6, Stand F51, visitors can explore the latest holographic innovations from ZEISS. This disruptive technology enables the optical activation of transparent surfaces and combines the core functions – projection and illumination – to redefine passenger experience in aircraft cabins.
Holographic Transparent Display integrated in inner windows
ZEISS holographic display technology can be seamlessly integrated into aircraft windows, creating a display that is visually indistinguishable from conventional windows. This solution allows for the flexible projection of content directly in the passengers’ field of view. Information such as flight information, moving maps or geographical orientation can be displayed in real-time, giving airlines the opportunity to integrate content seamlessly into its cabin environment.
Transparent Displays integrated in cabin dividers
ZEISS holographic technology transforms cabin dividers into interactive digital surfaces / screens. Every transparent surface can serve as a dynamic display to present custom, interactive content. This solution requires minimal space, it’s energy efficient and delivers high-quality images. It also enables airlines to create engaging and informative environments for passengers while maintaining a sleek and modern cabin design.
Holographic HMI (Human-Machine Interface)
The Holographic HMI is a touch-free interface that uses ZEISS pioneering holographic technology to create interactive 3D controls. These holographic “buttons” can be projected onto transparent or non-transparent surfaces, offering passengers the freedom to interact with in-flight systems without the need to physically touch any surface. This not only enhances hygiene but also offers greater design flexibility for aircraft interiors.
These innovations, powered by ZEISS Multifunctional Smart Glass technology, will improve the passenger experience and contribute to more efficient aircraft designs.
