In the context of their company-wide project “Smart Factory”, TRISA AG from Triengen (Switzerland), one of the global leading providers of products for oral care, hair care and beauty care, decided to implement the Manufacturing Execution Systems ZEISS GUARDUS.
After a very intensive evaluation phase of over 30 providers, the MES of ZEISS was selected. “The functionalities and technology of the software convinced us. But it was the know-how and extensive practical experience of the ZEISS GUARDUS team which were decisive for our decision. We are convinced that we found a reliable and high-performing partner which understands our requirements and can give us valuable advice in many areas”, says Stefan Jenni, project manager and head of the IT department at TRISA AG explaining the decision.
In the upcoming months, the branch leader will gradually implement the new shop floor IT along the entire value-added chain. As an important part and driving force of a wide digitalisation strategy, the MES will become the central interface for all the production and quality-relevant product and process data. The implementation of a paperless production as well as the simplification and acceleration of all the processes for the collection of production, quality and machinery data are of primary importance. “The work with paper documents and isolated applications as well as the manual handling of data are not only very time-consuming but they also entail the risk of errors. By means of ZEISS GUARDUS, we want to basically change this situation, not only in terms of process acceleration but also in terms of the quality of data collection”, continues Jenni. Integrated personnel and manufacturing planning as well as a module for maintenance and resource management will additionally supplement the MES knowledge platform. This holistic approach will enable TRISA to combine planning safety and exhaustive traceability with agile process control and business adaptability.
At the beginning of the project, ZEISS GUARDUS will first be implemented in the three TRISA production sites in Triengen. In the first phase, the project team will focus on the implementation of the production data collection and quality inspections accompanying production as well as on resource and maintenance management and scheduling. Moreover, the integration into the already existing IT landscape, especially the bidirectional data exchange with the leading ERP system as well as the integration of the HR system, document management system and measuring equipment management is also of high importance on the project agenda.
