C.P.S. Fisciano specializes in the production of components for power generation, among other things. Quality has been an integral part of C.P.S. since the company was founded. Large dimensions, the increasing complexity of parts, e.g. for gas turbines, and constantly increasing customer requirements make quality-relevant measurement data a decisive factor for the company success.

These challenges can only be met with innovative solutions, as customers expect the highest quality standards and complete documentation of the tighest tolerances. C.P.S. therefore relies on ZEISS as a partner when it comes to guaranteeing the quality of components and offering customers maximum precision. Two coordinate measuring machines from the ZEISS MMZ family are used for quality assurance of large parts. Coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), with their very large measuring ranges and high payloads, are essential for the production of large components, such as those used in the energy and aerospace industries.

Testing of complex structures with innovative measurement technology

In the C.P.S. measuring room, dimensional and positional parameters on power generation components, for example, have to be recorded in a short time. In addition, tighest tolerances must be adhered to when manufacturing complex, large-volume, and usually heavy objects. This is why ZEISS systems were chosen. The metrology met all the requirements for high-precision, close-to-production inspection of complex structures, and was also designed to meet the requirements for continuity and support for future growth.

With the ZEISS MMZ T and ZEISS MMZ G portal measuring devices, it is possible to measure large workpieces without compromising on precision. An indispensable addition is the ZEISS multi-application sensor technology (ZEISS mass). Not only can a large number of ZEISS sensors be operated on the same measuring machine with maximum precision, but they can also be changed quickly if required. The versatility of VAST sensor technology, ranging from standard and large probe systems to tilt and swivel units for optimum access to hard-to-reach points, enables high accuracies and short detection times. The ZEISS MMZ series of CMMs are ideal for quality assurance of heavy components and provide precision measurement on a large scale. With large measuring volumes, they precisely inspect complex workpieces, including large turbine components, near production to ensure adherence to the strictest tolerance specifications. The open design also makes it easy to load with a crane.

In addition, C.P.S. also uses optical measurement technology systems from ZEISS for the full-surface acquisition of 3D measuring data. These are suitable for recording data during casting and pre-machining. The two technologies complement each other perfectly.

Combined with ZEISS CALYPSO, the ZEISS coordinate measuring machines tap their full potential. The metrology software thoroughly analyzes data collected through tactile and optical measurements by ZEISS coordinate measuring machines. It measures geometrical elements simply, quickly, and reliably.

Users can easily program inspection plans by selecting desired features. The software provides support during and after the measurement with a wide range of functions for recording components and analyzing the results.
