ZEISS INSPECT Optical 3D Release Notes

ZEISS INSPECT Optical 3D 2025

New features

ZEISS INSPECT Optical 3D 2025 – New highlight features

The new software update takes your inspection tasks to a whole new level. Benefit from optimized functions for higher productivity, unlocking possibilities no matter which optical measuring systems you use.

Surface defects workflow

Surface defects workflow

With this release we provide a new more intuitive and task-focused workflow for surface defects that unlocks new possibilities. There is no coding required. Defects defined as elements allow for many more inspections. We offer the ability to remove non-defects by thresholds and filters. Surface defect curves for large areas reduce computation time.

GD&T enhancements

GD&T enhancements

With this release the latest ISO and ASME GD&T standards are supported for the whole project. The enhancements include new integrated GD&T expert filters for geometry primitives and PMI improvements like TED, data management & datum parsing.

Filter tags

Filter tags

Want to predefine a tag with special criteria? With this release this becomes even easier. Elements parametrically get added or removed from the tag, enabling traceability. Simply filter for example be by name, by range or tolerance status.

Clusters

Clusters

With this release clusters become parametric and editing specific clusters is possible. They are now in the explorer under their own category. Benefit from the full traceability of parametric clusters.

Sensor fusion

Sensor fusion

A single project can now handle data from multiple sensors. Both an ATOS sensor and a Laser sensor could acquire data in the same projects and produce a singular mesh, for example. It is also possible with ScanBox Series 8 and other double robot cells to operate via a single PC. All projects can be executed from a single PC, significantly reducing cycle time.

Scripting improvements

Scripting improvements

Many improvements to scripting speed and functionalities come with the latest version of the software. For example scripting diagrams were added and allow to import external libraries to graph results in a custom way.

Previous highlights

ZEISS INSPECT Optical 3D updates of previous releases

  • GD&T enhancements

This year’s release offers automatic numbering of tolerance inspections. Get GD&T filters, e.g. profile and areal filter methods according to ISO 16610 which works with optical (mesh) and tactile (point cloud) data.

  • Python interface improvements

Customize the software to your needs and optimally adapt ZEISS INSPECT with apps. We offer constantly developed new apps and the possibility to develop own apps with multiple tools like e.g. the App Editor or documentation on a ZEISS GitHub page.

  • Autosurfacing app

This release includes the autosurfacing app to convert scan data to an accurate CAD model that can be used for further process steps like input for CAM systems, simulating and prototyping or organic product design.

  • Gray value features

With this release we provide algorithmic improvements and more robust edge detection at ambiguous edges. Improving stability and repeatability through edge point computation.

  • Software-based movement compensation

This release includes efficient elimination of possible part movement that could falsify the measurement. Reference points are tracked during scanning and movements are compensated. The feature enables a more stable and less affected measuring procedure. This saves time, as measurements don‘t have to be repeated when they are disrupted.
