Faster production restart after tool change
The challenge
Stamping presses produce parts very quickly. Much faster than these parts can be preassembled into assemblies during production. Due to these shorter cycle times, the presses are often used for the production of varying parts, which requires changing the tool on the press.
This tool change is a critical process, as many parameters can influence the quality of the finished pressed parts. After a tool change it is therefore necessary to check the first parts coming off the press before starting volume production.
The solution
With an ATOS system, the users can scan these parts in full 3D directly on site at the production facility. With the aid of a measurement plan, these can then be quickly checked for shape and dimensional accuracy.
In this way, it is possible to easily ensure that everything works as it should after a tool change and then immediately resume series production.
