ZEISS mass technology

ZEISS Multi-Application Sensor System (mass) Technology

A variety of probes on the CMM

One CMM – up to 9 sensor systems

Multi-application sensor technology for more flexibility on your coordinate measuring machine

When maximum precision is required, coordinate measuring machines are an indispensable tool in industry. With the multi-application sensor system (ZEISS mass) technology, a large number of ZEISS sensors can be precisely operated and quickly replaced on the same coordinate measuring machine: Sensors with an articulating system or fixed stylus system, optical or tactile, passive or active – ZEISS mass gives you maximum flexibility.

  • 1 CMM, up to 9 sensor systems with different technologies

  • Simple sensor change-out in just 3 steps

  • No loss of measuring room due to sensor change-out

  • Maximum adaptability to your measurement requirements

  • No adapters required and almost the same level as a home position for all sensors

Variety of sensors

The various sensors, whether optical or tactile, active or passive, have different advantages and areas of application. (See table for compatibility)

Simple sensor change-out in 3 steps

Step 1

Mounting the sensor

The dovetail mechanism makes it particularly easy to change the sensor. Only one screw needs to be loosened to replace the sensor. This means that any probe head can be changed easily and conveniently – whether ZEISS VAST XXT, which is mounted on an RDS, or other tactile and optical probes.

Step 2

Locking the sensor in place

The new sensor is locked in place with a single screw. This is tightened with a defined torque of 2 NM. There is no need to plug in additional cables as all connections are protected inside the ram and damage is ruled out.

Step 3

Automatic sensor detection

Each ZEISS sensor is equipped with an ID chip that is automatically recognized by the coordinate measuring machine during initial operation and is selected in the ZEISS CALYPSO measuring software. This system eliminates operating errors and allows users to concentrate on the things that really matter – their measuring tasks.

Investing in the future

The mass technology from ZEISS has advantages for many quality assurance tasks.

The workpiece is measured in one clamping operation and therefore in the same reference coordinate system with different probes.
Investing in the future
Greater measurement reliability
Users can respond very quickly to changing measurement tasks.
High degree of flexibility
High degree of flexibility
If required, the coordinate measuring machines can be retrofitted quickly and cost-effectively by purchasing additional probes. Investing in coordinate measuring machines with ZEISS mass technology is also worthwhile for companies that currently have no need for the use of optical sensors.
High investment security
High investment security
Instead of investing in several coordinate measuring machines and thus larger footprints, with a ZEISS mass CMM you only need the appropriate sensor to handle your measuring tasks.
