ZEISS ARAMIS Adjustable

The modular measuring system for 2D and 3D analyses

ARAMIS Adjustable provides precise 2D and 3D coordinates for analyzing statically or dynamically stressed components and materials.

  • Modularly expandable
  • Individually configurable
  • Flexibly adaptable to the measuring task

The individually expandable ZEISS ARAMIS Adjustable system offers suitable configurations for a wide range of inspection tasks and fulfills the highest metrological requirements based on digital image correlation and point tracking. The quality and performance of the ARAMIS sensors is verified by an acceptance procedure. The acceptance procedure is based on VDI guidelines 2634-1 and 2626 and is an integral part of the delivery process.

Up to any challenge

Individual configuration and system expansion

Flexible and modular

ARAMIS Adjustable is available as a complete package or the system can be configured individually and according to requirements. If requirements for the optical 3D measuring system increase, the hardware components can be added to and combined thanks to the modular concept. This means that a 2D sensor can easily be extended to a 3D system by adding a second camera and completing it to create a fully comprehensive system solution.

Flexibly adjustable measuring area

Flexibly adjustable measuring area

With both a 2D and a 3D sensor, the system is suitable for full-field and point-based analysis of statically or dynamically stressed components and materials. Variable measuring volumes and distances mean that the sensors can be used flexibly for different measuring tasks. The system is therefore ideal for research institutes and universities working on various applications.

Analyze movements, displacements and strains three-dimensionally

Analyze movements, displacements and strains three-dimensionally

Measurement, analysis and measuring reports with continuous data flow: Each ARAMIS system is equipped with the ZEISS INSPECT Correlate software, which supports you throughout the entire test process. Using digital image correlation and point tracking algorithms, the software delivers highly accurate measurement results for surface changes in the form of strains, displacements or velocities.

Three camera variants with a resolution of up to 24 megapixels, variable lighting solutions that can be mounted directly on the sensor and a wide range of possible measuring volumes: The modular design of the ARAMIS Adjustable Sensor makes it possible to choose from a wide range of components, allowing the system to be adapted to any measurement task.

Modular system solution for maximum flexibility

Sensor concept

The flexible design with its adjustable lenses and variable camera and measuring distances enables a wide range of measuring ranges within defined measuring volumes.

Sample illumination

For optimum illumination of very small to medium-sized objects, flexibly positionable dual LEDs or the specially developed light projector are available. LED light fields, on the other hand, allow for wide-area illumination of larger measurement objects. All three lighting solutions use Blue Light Technology and offer uniform surface illumination.

Camera variants

With a total of three standard camera variants between 12 and 24 megapixels and frame rates from 25 to 2,000 fps, ARAMIS Adjustable is designed for numerous applications in research, development and industry. If image recording rates above 2000 fps are required, recordings can be made with high-speed cameras.

ARAMIS Controller

The ARAMIS Controller is an important component of the ARAMIS system and structures the integration of the sensor into the test environment. The hardware component makes it easy to program user-defined measuring sequences, allows multi-sensor setups and offers image-synchronous signal recording of external measuring signals (e.g. force, temperature or voltage).

Touch Probe

If tactile 3D measurements are required in addition to surface measurements, a probe is used. It is optically tracked by the ARAMIS system and allows the acquisition of coordinates and standard geometries such as planes, lines and circular hole centers in areas that are difficult to access optically.

Certified quality

The quality and performance of the ARAMIS sensors is verified by a standardized acceptance procedure. The acceptance procedure is based on VDI guidelines 2634-1 and 2626 and is an integral part of the delivery process. Customers receive an acceptance certificate for the purchased sensor, the DAkkS certificate for the optical scale used and a detailed process description

Power & Energy

Power & Energy

The energy sector is facing a huge transformation as a result of the expansion of renewable energies. Energy-producing companies must always keep an eye on the safety of their systems. To ensure safety, a large number of mechanical tests such as tensile, compression and bending tests are carried out. Vibration tests on components such as generators and turbines also play a major role in ensuring that the components can withstand the high loads caused by vibrations during operation. ZEISS ARAMIS is the optical measuring solution for the determination of strain, deformation and displacement in 3D.

Areas of application

Material characterization

Material characterization

The precise full-field ARAMIS measurement results improve the accuracy of material parameters. Existing evaluation methods are optimized and thus become more reliable, such as the determining of flow and forming limit curves. Some material tests are only possible because ARAMIS measurements are carried out with a non-contact method and the results have a high spatial resolution. They are used, for example, in tensile, shear, compression and three-point bending tests as well as in high-speed and temperature tests.

Testing of prototypes, components and structural parts

Testing of prototypes, components and structural parts

ARAMIS is used for stiffness analyses, vibration analyses, fatigue strength tests and crash tests. The measurement results form the basis for determining product service life forecasts or load limits and optimizing the geometry layout. In the load test, the system records the real component geometry including the non-linear deformation behavior and allows a direct comparison with the FEM data.

Validation of numerical simulations

Validation of numerical simulations

The ARAMIS sensors provide information on material properties, the deformation behavior of components and the boundary conditions of test setups. These are input parameters for the simulation models as well as comparison variables for optimization and validation. The software enables the import of FE data from ABAQUS, PAMSTAMP, LS-DYNA and ANSYS, AUTOFORM as well as their 3D alignment in space and to the measurement data.
