Abstract

In contrast to methods like electron microscopy, which require substantial sample preparation and extreme image conditions, superresolution microscopy circumvent the resolution limit while keeping the minimally invasive nature of optical microscopy. Observing and characterizing life in its finest structures, down to resolving molecular details in the 10 – 100 nm resolution range.

This enables the quantification of cellular mechanisms, for example the reorganizing of actin, shuttling of vesicles along microtubulin filaments, the assembly of virus particles, or the firing at individual synapses in a live neuron, and innumerable more.
