Abstract

”Walk into” Your Sample with Virtual Reality

Collaboration in Virtual Reality using ZEISS arivis Pro VR empowers you to experience 3D and 4D microscopy data as a team with colleagues around the world in virtual reality online meetings. You meet with researchers in an interactive virtual lab environment to discuss image-based research projects, explore 3D microcopy images, and share your expertise and results in life science, education, and biomedical research. ZEISS arivis Pro VR and Collaboration allow you to interact with and navigate through large scientific datasets in real time and understand structural features, results, and nuances in an immersive 3D/4D environment.

Vast amounts of data analysed to view cell division in a VR environment. Images acquired with the award-winning Lattice Lightsheet 7 microscope. The video demonstrates a live collaboration to view results with the ZEISS arivis Pro VR toolkit (formerly known as VisionVR).

Collaboration in VR using ZEISS arivis Pro VR

Work with peers from different disciplines and universities globally – via your local network, intranet, or the internet. Use Clipping and Laser Pointers to highlight structures of interest for your team members. Make decisions and discoveries interactively at the virtual object.

Use voice chat or any web meeting service and see your colleagues’ avatars in VR for real communication in virtual space. Share your VR environment with multiple users without loss of render quality even at standard internet connection speed.

Immersive Visualization Without Compromises

As simple as looking at your surroundings in the real world, arivis Pro VR toolkit restores the context of tissues and interconnected structures in the virtual world. By positioning data in your peripersonal space, the space within arm’s length in all directions, arivis Pro VR provides enhanced depth perception, the ability to recognize relational sizes, and the ability to transfer information about objects within the visual field to memory compared to alternative viewing methods. This toolkit is the first scientific VR solution to support the OpenXR(TM) standard, making it the most supported and future-proof solution.

Experience smooth and responsive viewing with high frame rates and low latency rendering. Intuitively navigate to any position utilizing hand gestures or handheld controllers. Pan and rotate the image, walk around in the image, or turn your head to look around. Change your size to observe structures with their correct positional, relational and aspect ratio.

Productive Analysis in VR

ZEISS arivis Pro VR toolkit goes beyond simple proofreading to identify areas where automatic segmentation on a desktop program has gone wrong. Preserving the correct portions of the original segmentation, The toolkit provides sculpting and painting tools to interactively grow or shrink segmented objects and transforming them to a 100% fit to the original image data. Joining, splitting and deleting objects where automatic segmentation has gone wrong is equally as intuitive. ZEISS arivis Pro VR significantly increases the efficiency of the proof-editing process.
