不妊治療用の卵子と精子の調整
卵子と精子は、質を評価した後、不妊治療のために準備されます。ヒトや動物の受精に使われる生殖技術には、体外受精(IVF)、顕微授精(ICSI)、形態良好精子の選別による顕微授精(IMSI)があります。中でもICSIとIMSIには高分解能、高コントラストの、マイクロマニピュレーションが可能な顕微鏡が必要です。この操作は通常、温めた顕微鏡ステージガラスインサートに乗せたペトリ皿の中で行われます。ICSIはIVFよりも受精確率が高いため、多くの地域や国で生殖補助医療の手段として選ばれています。
