Planetarium Freiburg

The Freiburg Planetarium is the successor to the planetarium in the Richard Fehrenbach Trade School, which was initiated by Richard Fehrenbach in 1975. Since 2002, the new planetarium has been located at the northern end of the main railway station in the former Ufa-Palast. It is the largest planetarium in southern Baden.

ESO Supernova Planetarium & Visitor Centre
 

The ESO Supernova Planetarium & Visitor Centre is a state-of-the-art astronomical centre for the public. The heart of the ESO Supernova is a planetarium with modern projection technology and the latest visualisation technologies. The ESO Supernova is the world's first open source planetarium. The materials are available to other planetariums around the world free of charge under a Creative Commons licence.

Space Flight Planetarium Halle
 

After the old planetarium was destroyed in the 2014 flood disaster, the city of Halle decided to rebuild the planetarium. State-of-the-art planetarium technology can now be found in the city's former gasometer. The SKYMASTER ZKP 4 star projector from ZEISS is complemented by a digital all-dome system consisting of six ZEISS VELVET LED projectors.

House of Astronomy MPIA-Campus
 

The ‘House of Astronomy’ is a special centre for astronomical education and knowledge transfer. The centre on the Königstuhl aims to bring the fascination of astronomy to the general public and schools. The centre of the building is the inclined dome, which serves as an auditorium with a ZEISS VELVET fulldome projection.

Planetarium Wolfsburg
 

The first planetarium projector was a gift from VW to the city of Wolfsburg on the occasion of its 40th anniversary. On 16 October 1996, the ZEISS STARMASTER, the first of the new generation of medium-sized planetariums with fibre-optic projectors, made its debut. At the beginning of 2010, the optical-mechanical projection system was supplemented with the VELVET digital all-dome system. A modernisation to six ZEISS VELVET LEDs took place in 2023.

Planetario Giovan Battista Amico
 

Named after the Cosentine Renaissance astronomer Giovan Battista Amico, a pioneer of modern astronomy, the planetarium is equipped with one of the most modern projection systems currently available in Italy. In addition to regular shows, the planetarium organises a series of scientific conferences and special presentations for school groups.

With almost 300,000 guests a year, the Torun Planetarium is one of the most visited planetariums in Europe. Due to the satisfaction with their ZEISS projection system, the decision was again made to use a ZEISS system for the 2023 modernisation. ZEISS installed a SKYMASTER ZKP 4 planetarium projector in the dome room.

IIn 2019, the Astronomical Centre with Planetarium celebrated its 50th birthday. It is the first public planetarium in Romania. Today, a SKYMASTER ZKP 4 planetarium projector with LED lighting creates the starry sky.

The city of Yaroslavl built the first new planetarium in Russia since the end of the Soviet era. The cultural and educational centre consists of a planetarium, an observatory, a space museum and exhibition areas. In the dome room, ZEISS installed a SKYMASTER ZKP 4 planetarium projector in combination with a ZEISS fulldome system.

The observatory was built between 1947 and 1961. The ZKP 1 small planetarium was in active use for decades. In 2015, the facility opened a new building with a tilted planetarium auditorium and a ZEISS VELVET fulldome system.

Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Planetarium
 

The Gaziantep Science Centre is characterised by a large sphere that seems to float half inside and half outside the building. Most of the visitors are schoolchildren studying science. ZEISS supplied and installed the technical equipment for the planetarium.

The interesting building was designed by the architect Sérgio Bernardes from Rio de Janeiro. Due to structural difficulties, the planetarium remained closed several times. It reopened in 2013 with the addition of a ZEISS Fulldome system.

In 2011, the Charles Hayden Planetarium was reopened after extensive refurbishment with a STARMASTER projector. The planetarium, which is visited by around 200,000 guests a year, including 20,000 schoolchildren, has expanded its educational mission in recent years. After New Orleans, Boston is the second city in the USA with a ZEISS STARMASTER planetarium.

William M. Staerkel Planetarium
 

The star of the planetarium shows is ‘Carl’, the M 1015 star projector. Although the projector was installed in 1987, it looks practically new and still works very well. The William M. Staerkel Planetarium at Parkland College is considered one of the best-kept secrets in Champaign, Illinois. It is the second largest planetarium in the state.

Louis J. Roussel Jr. Kenner Planetarium

The planetarium in Kenner is often referred to as the city's most attractive cultural institution. Classic planetarium shows, large-format films and laser shows can be experienced in the tilted dome. The planetarium is named after Louis J. Roussel, Jr., a businessman from New Orleans.

Bays Mountain Park & Planetarium
 

The Bays Mountain Planetarium is a special facility in the middle of a nature reserve. In 2008/09, the planetarium was completely renovated and expanded to include fulldome presentations. An extensive upgrade will follow in 2021 with the installation of a 6-channel VELVET fulldome system.

The William R. Luebke Planetarium serves as a learning environment within the Science Communication Centre. It serves students of astronomy and other sciences. The top equipment ensures the excellent presentation of the night sky and the fulldome shows.

Lakeview Museum of Arts and Sciences
 

In 2008, the planetarium was reopened in the Lakeview Museum. When the museum moved into the newly built and much larger complex, the planetarium technology also moved into a new, larger dome. Thanks to the conversion to LED lighting, the starry sky in the larger dome is even brighter.

The Robert J Novins Planetarium in Toms River was reopened in autumn 2010 after renovation work with a ZEISS SKYMASTERZKP 4 planetarium projector. Hangzhou High School

The university in Hangzhou is delighted with its SKYMASTER ZKP 4 LED projector. Teachers at the newly built university complex in the city of 8 million use the first-class projection system to realistically display the starry sky and teach celestial phenomena.

Jilin is one of China's three provinces in the north-east of the country. ZEISS installed a 6-channel fulldome system in Changchun in 2011.

Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium

The Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium in Bangalore was built by the city in 1989 and the original SPACEMASTER projector was replaced with a hybrid planetarium consisting of SKYMASTER ZKP 4 LED and a VELVET fulldome system.

The Regional Science Centre & Planetarium in Calicut is run by the state government and is responsible for popularising science in the state of Kerala. The planetarium, equipped with a hybrid planetarium, shows around 1200 shows a year.

The Indira Gandhi Planetarium, also known as the Patna Planetarium, is located in Patna's Indira Gandhi Science Complex. It is one of the largest planetariums in Asia and houses six Christie projectors which were installed by ZEISS in 2023.

Established in 1984, the Kerala State Science & Technology Museum serves as a communication hub for science and technology and caters to both residents and tourists. The Priyadarshini Planetarium has the most modern hybrid planetarium and is considered the most important planetarium facility in South India.

Munakata, with a population of 95,000, is located on Kyushu, the southernmost of Japan's four main islands. The planetarium is part of a cultural and sports centre that attracts one million visitors a year.

Astronomical facts and fulldome films are visualised with the ZEISS video projection on the 12 m dome. Part of the delivery is the WorldWide Telescope programme optimised by ZEISS for the dome projection, with which visitors can experience journeys through the solar system and beyond into interstellar and galactic space.

The planetarium was built in 1959 and moved to its current location in 1970. Today, a hybrid system consisting of a ZEISS SKYMASTER ZKP 4 in conjunction with a SPACEGATE Quinto fulldome system serves as the technical centrepiece of the planetarium.
