Make lenses as tough as can be.

We employ a special process to engineer our ZEISS DuraVision coatings. It uses multiple anti-reflective layers and ion bombardment to make each lens even more durable and scratch-resistant.

ZEISS DuraVision AR coatings reach exceptionally high Bayer ratios, the industry standard for rating scratch resistance.1 In other words, DuraVision® AR coatings keep lenses in better shape for longer.


What makes ZEISS coatings so durable?

More layers, more durability.

We have 80 years of expertise in developing lens coatings. Our process uses a thermally-cured hard coat to improve stability with the AR coating. The hard coat then undergoes ion bombardment to enhance adhesion. Multiple ultra-thin layers of metal and ceramic oxides are then deposited to create very densely packed layers. The result: superior scratch resistance.

For an easier, longer-lasting clean.

Our ZEISS DuraVision coatings have a super-slick clean coat that effectively repels oil and water. Anti-static properties keep dust and dirt away. The result: Lenses are more smudge-resistant and easier to clean – and they stay cleaner longer.

Our most premium coating, ZEISS DuraVision Gold UV, includes our new CleanGuardTM technology. This innovation increases the contact angles for water and oil-like substances. As a result, lenses are even more water- and oil-repellent – and they clean up to three times faster.2

Our innovative CleanGuard™ technology makes lenses with ZEISS DuraVision Gold UV water- and oil-repellent. It also adds anti-static properties. Thanks to this three-in-one innovation, your customers can clean their lenses up to three times faster.1

CleanGuardTM technology features an increased contact angle of up to 73° for substances with very high surface attraction, like oil and grease. This makes the lenses more repellent – so they’re easier to clean and stay cleaner for longer.

Better vision and better looks.

Premium DuraVision® AR coatings help your customers see more clearly – and look even better. The anti-reflective coating increases the amount of light transmitted to the eye. It also reduces reflections from the front and back of the lens.

ZEISS DuraVision Gold UV features a gold reflex. The coating reduces perceived yellowness by up to 90%3 and reduces reflected blue light (380-500 nm). It’s our clearest lens coating – especially in low light.
