ZEISS DuraVision Premium Coatings
ZEISS FOR EYE CARE PROFESSIONALS

ZEISS DuraVision Premium Coatings

Give your patients clear vision, great protection and an excellent appearance.

DuraVision® Premium Lens Coatings were designed by ZEISS, the inventors of anti-reflective coating technology.

The range of lens coatings for glasses is characterized by compelling anti-reflective properties. It  also creates a surface that is more dirt resistant and easier to clean.
Now standard with sunglass-level UV protection from all sides, also on the back surface on single-vision and ZEISS lens designs.

  • Durability for better damage resistance
  • Dirt resistance keeps lenses cleaner for longer
  • Greater clarity with reduced reflections and clearer vision

Premium anti-reflective lens coatings

See better:  more light entering the eye gives patients clearer vision, reducing ocular stress and unnecessary eye strain.

Look better:  the blue reflective coatings are more transparent, allowing for natural vision with less perceived reflections on the lenses.

The DuraVision® Premium Coatings are available in  different  varieties of protection.

  • DuraVision® Platinum UV
  • DuraVision® Silver UV
  • DuraVision® Chrome UV

Thanks to DuraVision® technology, you can now offer your customers protection, clarity, easy care and durability.

  • DuraVision®  BlueProtect UV:  Protection from potentially harmful blue light with durability and long-lasting cleanability.
  • DuraVision® Platinum UV:  Highest clarity, toughness and long-lasting cleanability.
  • DuraVision® Silver UV:  High clarity, scratch resistance and long-lasting cleanability.
  • DuraVision® Chrome UV: Light green anti-reflex coating, scratch resistance   and long-lasting cleanability.
All ZEISS lenses come standard with UV protection from all sides. The graphic shows two solutions.

UV protection from all sides

  • Offer your patients sunglass-level UV protection by reducing the indirect UV light reflected into their eyes.
  • The coating does not only address the direct light protection up to 400 nm with UVProtect  Technology, but also considers the indirect light incident upon the back surface.
  • Back surface UV protection is integrated as a standard feature in all premium ZEISS DuraVision Coatings.

Outstanding anti-reflective properties

DuraVision® Platinum UV and DuraVision® Silver UV Premium Coatings have a light bluish residual reflection for:

  • Higher luminance transmittance for even clearer vision.
  • Reduction in distracting reflections on the back surface by 20% for a more comfortable viewing experience.
  • Reduces reflections on the front surface by 20% for a more appealing appearance.
  • Increased light transmittance by the lens, resulting in even better vision.

Trust in the quality you prescribe

The multiple layers of  DuraVision®  Coatings  ensure a more durable and tougher lens, courtesy of the superior hardness it offers.

  • Lenses with  DuraVision® Platinum UV  Anti-reflective  Coating consist of layers that are densely packed using ion-assisted deposition.
  • This results in a lens surface that is 3x harder than the previous generation of AR-coated plastic ZEISS lenses1  and 35 % harder than AR-coated glass ZEISS lenses.2
  • DuraVision  Platinum UV Lenses have an exceptionally high Bayer ratio of >10*,  and  it guarantees the hardest ZEISS lenses.

Long-lasting cleanability: Offer your customers lenses that are easy to clean and keep clean

  • Our super hydrophobic coating repels oil and water for an  easy-cleaning  experience.
  • The super-slick clean coat makes lenses very easy to clean. Lenses with high contact angles repel oil and water more effectively.
  • ZEISS lenses with the DuraVision® AR Coating have a contact angle of a minimum of 110° (lenses without super-slick clean coat: 95°).

Dust and dirt repellent

  • The patented anti-static layer prevents the build-up of static electricity.
  • As dust and lint are not attracted to the lens surface, lenses stay cleaner for longer

Functional anti-reflective coatings

Some viewing tasks require more than traditional AR coatings, for example driving at night, dawn or dusk, or in challenging weather conditions.

Coatings that block specific wavelengths can reduce the overall visual stress perceived by customers.

“Glare” is the term used to describe the difficulty of seeing in bright light such as direct sunlight or artificial light. It can pose a safety risk, as it reduces the visibility of objects and the eye’s sensitivity to contrast. For this reason, your patients may struggle to see when car headlights create glare, especially when driving at night, in rain, mist or dusk.

DuraVision® DriveSafe UV Coating is specifically designed to meet the vision needs of patients who want to feel safer and more comfortable when driving.

Visualisation of how lens coatings can reduce glare by partially blocking blue rays

Reduced glare at night

  • Market research and scientific evidence both indicate that glare  that may be perceived by your patients in traffic is linked  in particular to  LED and Xenon HID light sources.  These are used in modern car lighting technology.
  • DuraVision®  DriveSafe  UV Coatings partially reflect the high energy wavelengths (blue rays) responsible for glare, and therefore reduce the perceived glare up to 64% compared to premium  ZEISS coatings.

Only available on ZEISS  DriveSafe  Lenses.
