Download and discover: the hunting grounds function and desktop version
OBERKOCHEN/Germany | 11. March 2019 | Sports Optics
The free ZEISS Hunting app now comes with new features that make hunting that much easier: the new hunting grounds manager allows users to quickly and intuitively manage their locations – via their smartphone, tablet and now even on their desktop computer too. Other functions like a ballistics calculator, hunter’s journal, weather forecast and hunting equipment inventory allow hunters to conveniently organize, plan and document their day. This means the most important information is always at your fingertips, leaving more time to focus on hunting and nature. What’s more, the app communicates with the ZEISS Victory RF system’s laser rangefinders via Bluetooth, thus enabling precise shots at all distances.
Keep track of your hunting grounds at all times
The new menu item “Hunting grounds” allows you to mark the limits of your hunting grounds on an interactive map and save points of interest like hunting stands, feeder locations and trail cameras, as well as restricted areas. Handy GPS functions help hunters in the field: the app shows their current position and collects data on their usual movements in the grounds. All entries in the hunting journal can be linked to the grounds in question, thus providing an overview of wildlife sightings and other occurrences on the map.
Desktop version for easy input, incl. real-time synchronization
Another benefit of the app is the new desktop version; its large display means it’s now even easier and more convenient to record your hunting experiences. Thanks to ongoing synchronization, the entries are available on all devices – simply download the app and create a user account to access them via the web browser on your smartphone, tablet or desktop computer.
Communication with the ZEISS rangefinder system
The ZEISS Hunting app can also be connected to the laser rangefinder of the ZEISS Victory rangefinder system via Bluetooth in order to transfer personalized ballistic profiles to the rangefinder. It combines the data with information relating to the distance, tilt angle, temperature and air pressure, and uses these values to calculate the precise click or bullet drop compensator (BDC), thus ensuring a safe and accurate shot even at long range.
The app even allows users to configure the data display in the rangefinder’s field of vision, e.g. the brightness of the display, the unit of measurement or the selection and sequence of the required information. Users can view and save the range data collected by the rangefinder in the app. Another advantage is that the app automatically installs software updates on the rangefinder, meaning your device is always up to date. The ZEISS Victory Rangefinder is available in four versions: the ZEISS Victory RF 8x42 and 10x42 for daytime hunting, and the ZEISS Victory RF 8x54 and 10x54 for hunting until nightfall.
At the IWA industry trade fair in Nuremberg from 8 to 11 March, visitors to the ZEISS booth (hall 3A, booth 114) will be able to find out about the practical functions of the ZEISS Hunting app and try it out for themselves.
