ZOOM MED 1-2021

The magazine for employees of ZEISS Medical Technology

Dear MED TEAM,

Imagining what the future will be like is exciting. How will we live, work and travel? What will medical offices look like in the future? Or operating rooms? There are some people who try to predict the future with cards or crystal balls. At ZEISS, we prefer to place our trust in so-called "megatrends", which we analyze regularly so that we can derive recommended courses of action from them. And this is something we did again recently as part of #agenda25. So which megatrends did we look at, you ask? The infographic here1 provides a glimpse: As you'll see, demographic data and technological developments played a role.

In this issue of ZOOM MED, you'll find plenty of other future-related ZEISS Medical Technology topics, as well as examples of how we are implementing #agenda25.

On behalf of my colleagues in G5 Management, I wish you an enjoyable and informative read.

Strategic Agility first sounded to me like a never ending strategy process. But the course convinced me that it can help to solve challenges and generate results.

Li-hsien Chang Learning Management MED, Germany

I already finished two of them and found it very pragmatic and useful even for a master student in the field of adult education like me. I would definitely recommend this course to our trainer, E-learning content designer and anyone who interested in course/instructional design.

It enables people to find out what their personal leadership skills are and develop these, as well as meet the expectations made of ZEISS leaders. A professional instructor will share valuable models and methods to help you become a better leader.

First Leadership Experience

Patrick Berghoff Head of R&D Carl Zeiss EyeTec GmbH, Germany

I would recommend the 'First Leadership Experience' course. I've heard people say the "live" version is even better, but the digital version is still very good. Hossam did an amazing job organizing the course and making it interactive! Ideal for future leaders!

Brief introduction: Design thinking is a user-centered way of solving problems. It involves extensive collaboration, using strategies such as mapping customer journeys, concept creation, and prototyping. This course teaches leaders how to help their teams adopt a design thinking mindset, and provides examples from author Turi McKinley's work at frog, a global design and strategy firm that transforms businesses at scale by creating systems of brand, product, and service.

Vanessa Dorn Head of Content ZEISS CurioZ, Germany

For me, lifelong learning is essential if you want to stay competitive as an employee. It enables me to continually acquire new knowledge and qualifications, develop my expertise and use and reflect on previously learned skills.
In particular, I see personal development as a key to enable us to get to grips with digital changes and future innovations that will lead to the development of artificial intelligence, virtual reality and other technologies. As a manager, I also believe it is very important to enable my staff to learn, as well liaise with them to identify and implement the best possible training measures.
